The first visit of the year to the timber is always exciting, and after a long winter this is exactly what the soul needs to refresh.

This year I went earlier than I've been before and instead of the many mushrooms I was expecting to find i was pleasantly surprised by all of the wild flowers covering the woodland floor! Dutchman's breeches, toadshade trillium and a beautiful yellow flower with twisted petals I had never seen before, 'Uvularia grandiflora' or merry bells (thanks to a quick search on the internet!).

This year I hope to visit the woods more often and watch as it grows and changes and ultimately stays the same.
